Bio

The eldest son of two college teachers, Kyle grew up in North Dakota where books, music, and athletics were all encouraged (along with a healthy respect for cold weather). Seeking adventure, he attended the Air Force Academy and then spent 23 years as an Air Force officer and scientist. The next chapter for him was spending seven years in Seattle as a singer/song writer cranking out progressive tunes you can tap your toe to.  Now living in Sunnyvale, California, he is back to work using one side of his brain and still using the other side to make music.

Influencers

The first records I listened to were Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, and then Jimmy Buffet.  I played in a stage band starting in 7th grade and the first song I learned on the bass was "Night Train".  I discovered 80's music and heavy metal later.  Then Stevie Ray Vaughn and Albert King.  Can't forget Green Day, Elastica, Mose Allison and Keith Urban.  Bands I've enjoyed seeing lately are The Marcus King Band and the amazing Tedeschi Trucks Band.  So I'm all over the musical map!  Right now I write and perform the kind of folk and blues music done by a solo singer/song writer.  Some artists influencing what I'm doing today:  Natalia Zuckerman, Erin McKeown, Peter Mulvey, Josh Ritter, Chris Whitley, Greg Brown, Kelly Joe Phelps....and I find more artists to love every day.
